LU Athletics Director Desmond Gumbs Decision

Lincoln University announces that Desmond Gumbs has made the decision to step down as Head Football Coach. Mr. Gumbs will continue in his role as Athletic Director, ensuring stability and leadership within the University’s athletics department.

The University also announces that the Lincoln football program will not compete during the 2026–2027 season. This strategic pause will allow the department to focus on strengthening the program and preparing for its next phase of competition.

Lincoln University president Dr. Mikhail Brodsky stated that “Desmond Gumbs’ leadership has been instrumental in laying the foundation for Lincoln University athletics. His decision to step away from coaching while remaining Athletic Director demonstrates his commitment to positioning our football program for long-term success. We fully support him as he leads the search for our next head football coach”.
